GENESIS Clustering Webinar – Madeira, October 10, 2025

The GENESIS project is pleased to announce its upcoming Clustering Workshop, taking place on October 10, 2025, in Funchal, Madeira, at the historic Colégio dos Jesuítas, University of Madeira. This event will bring together water stakeholders, municipalities, and representatives from EU-funded projects to foster collaboration and accelerate climate adaptation efforts across Europe.

The workshop is part of GENESIS’s broader mission to demonstrate innovative, Nature-based Solutions for enhancing climate resilience in critical water infrastructure across Macaronesia and other European outermost regions. By clustering with other projects funded under similar Horizon Europe calls and the Mission Climate Adaptation, GENESIS aims to build a vibrant ecosystem of shared knowledge, joint communication, and long-term cooperation.

On October 10, the full-day workshop will feature opening remarks from José de Sousa Câmara, Vice Chancellor of Innovation, Internationalisation and Research at the University of Madeira, and Alejandro García Gil, GENESIS Project Coordinator. Participants will hear from a range of projects including Greet CE, Greet GEO, EnerCMed, and SpongeBoost, each contributing innovative approaches to water management, energy resilience, and climate adaptation.

Panel discussions will address the challenges of freshwater and wastewater management in insular contexts, with insights from demonstrators in El Hierro, La Palma, Gran Canaria, Faial, Santiago, and Madeira. The agenda also includes presentations of cutting-edge technologies, from atmospheric water generation to digital tools for wastewater heat recovery, ending with an open dialogue session to exchange ideas and solutions.

This clustering initiative is designed to strengthen connections among communities working on similar challenges, enhance the visibility of project outcomes, and support the exploitation of results through joint activities such as the GENESIS video competition.

We invite all interested stakeholders to be part of this collaborative effort.
